BioI am the geekiest graduate student in my Industrial/Organizational Psychology program at Missouri State University. That should tell you something. I also talk, a lot and learn about weird things. I call it "research," but it's really just because I think it's nifty.
I really like tabletop role-playing games, for whatever reason, I particularly enjoy White Wolf's contributions to the genre, old and new. This, by definition, makes me a fanboy, and I'm really okay with that.
I am madly and profoundly in love with my boyfriend of two and a half years or so at this point. If I had to pick a single thing that brings me more joy and contentment than anything else, it would be him. It's unfortunate that my relationship is somehow threatening to some people, but it's their right to feel threatened by anything they choose to, and it's my unalienable right to pursue happiness, provided it doesn't infringe on anyone else's rights. So tpppppth.
I believe that really cutting ridicule is the most valuable thing we can give one another. Corollary to this: the proper response to being brutally (or even gently) cut down is not "you are wrong," it is "could you be right? And if so, what should I do about it?" If you're not prepared to be made fun of, don't talk.
I am against employers screening by means of Facebook, Livejournal and Myspace, but I'm aware that it happens. For this reason, the overwhelming majority of this LJ has been (or is in the process of) being moved to totally private entries. You are reading the bowdlerized account of a life, know that. It is a sick, sick movement that isn't going anywhere. However, if you are an employer reading this, hire me anyway. Clearly I can keep my mouth shut when I need to.
Update 3-15-09
In less than three months I will be leaving the hugbox of academia and entering the significantly less comfortable hugbox cum iron maiden of life in middle management. Late May or early June shall see me return to Kansas City. If you live in Kansas City, you should contact me so that we may hang out, or at the very least, so that you can help me move.
On another note, I will be moving without my significant other, who will be following me in a year. It is the job of every single person reading this and who lives in Kansas City to keep me from becoming a crazy cat person while I wait for my better half to return to me.
